Dull and confusing execution makes this ghost story utterly forgettable and unintentionally funny.

The Invisible | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Marc Savlov Austin Chronicle Teen angst is teen angst whether it's DOA or MIA, and c'mon, if you really want to go all Swede-emo on us, you're always going to run up against the immovable cinematic woegasm that was Ingmar Bergman. Never a smart move, that. Goyer doesn't get half the skin-crawling mileage out of the ghost factor that he could. As a result, The Invisible really isn't worth seeing. Rogue P Absolutely stunning movie! Massively underrated. Not many people understood the film it wasn’t a ghost gimmick it was beautiful and about the heavy burdens we carry and how our family have a massive impact on our lives. Two individuals completely opposite are forced to understand one another’s life and come to care for each other. The ending was beautiful and heartbreaking a movie that has impacted me and I have never forgotten Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/14/24 Full Review Stephen S Had some potential but the characters behave really irrationally. The writers tease you thinking the characters are going to end up together and then they just randomly kill the girl off. Bizarrely, they act like this is a positive thing at the end, even though her little brother's life is still a complete mess and she's dead now. Baffling choice Rated 2.5/5 Stars • Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/18/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie doesn't go as hard or as deep as it could have, so I can see some people finding it underwhelming, and while the ending is certainly decent as an epilogue, I can't call it particularly satisfying either. However, I actually found much of this movie to be rather compelling, and where the movie started to move to greatness (usually to stop prematurely), I was able to respect what it was accomplishing. It was almost never up to its full potential, but a B/B- is hardly an F. However, there is one moment involving a dying bird at a window that, honestly, I thought was absolutely spellbinding and borderline heartbreaking, despite it only lasting about 45 seconds, and this was a moment of genuine excellence on this movie's part. But overall, I just thought it worked well enough as what it was: A moderately somber character study that dabbled in an odd spiritual mystery element - Frankly, I think the character study might have worked better, but neither is bad, and the character study (of the main character and those around him, how they react to his disappearance) is sometimes rather poignant. It's inoffensive and quick, and honestly not particularly taxing to watch, so if the concept ever intrigued you, I'd say give it a go -- Likely, the worst-case scenario is you'll be disappointed. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member So the critics give Home Alone a 66% and The Invisible a 20% ... That should tell anyone a lot about critics. Aside from the pop music montages, this was a great movie. I highly recommend. Why did the critics hate it so much.. It is baffling to me. Was it as good as Donnie Darko? No... But what a great double feature it would make. Screw the critics.. Just enjoy a good movie! Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member If you really think this is bad movie. You lack paying attention to the real story of course it could have better back stories for character development. Although they explain it as it goes on after he was in his spirit form. The reason why I give this a 3 1/2 is it needs more and a little better acting. For example when Nick at the end was talking to Victor he calmy said she died with no emotion or expression of being anywhere near upset. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member There's just something about it that breaks through your barriers and sticks with you. The girl delivers a fantastic performance, it is a very romantic and accurate depiction of what a twisted sense of humor life has sometimes.
